Events: 2003 User Groups Conference
A Grand Slam of a Time at the Strohl User Group Conference!
Truth be told, most 2003 San Francisco User Group Conference (UGC) attendees looked a little tired by the time the last day of the conference rolled around. Its not hard to understand why when you take a look at the packed conference schedule! Every day Strohl aimed to give attendees the most informative sessions led by dynamic speakers who could directly speak to the changes and issues in the BCP industry while also packing each day with a myriad of entertaining events.
The UGC started off with a powerful keynote address by Sgt. Matt Eversmann, who enthralled the audience with his story of leading young Rangers into the fiercest battle of the 1993 Mogadishu conflict. Many in the audience were already familiar with Black Hawk Down, the movie that brought his heroics to light, but Sgt. Eversmann put a personal touch on his speech by speaking directly to the conferences theme, People Make Plans, by reiterating the importance of ordinary men and women making the plans that may one day save the lives of their coworkers and protect their companies.
The following two mornings, attendees were treated to equally engaging general sessions. Strohls Development Team showcased some of the recent enhancements to Strohl software and promoted the launch the MyStrohl 2.0, and Robert Fuhr of Historical Perspectives told the compelling story of the Lewis and Clark adventure while drawing similarities between 21st Century BCP and 18th Century exploration.
The rest of each day was spent attending power and break out sessions on topics as varied as Setting up Plans for Plan Builders and Constellation Energys case study on the impact Hurricane Isabel had on their business to Advanced Crystal Reports and Introduction to BCP.
It wasnt all work though. Strohl Systems made sure plenty of fun was also had on recreational trips around San Francisco and the surrounding wine country and a Round Table Networking Reception gave attendees a chance to talk with their peers about how BCP is utilized in different industries.
The Passing Zone also kept attendees laughing well into the afternoon with their funny antics and breathtaking skill at juggling multiple objects including a garden weasel, a chia pet, and razor sharp shears! But it was their grand finale that really took attendees to new heights. Literally! Three brave UGC attendees were suited up for the first ever human juggling extravaganza complete with confetti and thunderous applause.
One of the true highlights of the UGC though was the Pacific Bell Park Ball. Thats right! Strohl Systems took attendees out to the ballpark the Pacific Bell Park, home to the San Francisco Giants. There was something for everyone at this party whether they chose to sit in the bleachers watching the fog roll in off the bay, take a behind the scenes tour, try their hand at batting practice, or dance the night away.
